What reopened for the season
Dubai Miracle Garden (open to 31 May 2027), Dubai Safari Park (reopened 12 October), Global Village (open until May 2027) and Hatta Wadi Hub (reopened 28 September) are the headline cool-season options in Dubai, and Sharjah Safari reopened on 21 September. In Abu Dhabi, Yas Island is open all year, with Warner Bros. World as the indoor choice for heat and young children.
By age
Under five: Global Village on a weekday, the Corniche beach and Dubai Miracle Garden suit pushchairs and short attention spans. Five to ten: Dubai Safari Park, Sharjah Safari, Hatta's dam and the Jais Sledder in Ras Al Khaimah. Teens: the Jebel Jais ziplines, Ferrari World and kayaking in the mangroves.
Practical rules that save a day
One major outing a day. Eat at opening time, not at 1pm. Carry water everywhere. Shade is limited at the open-air parks, so bring hats and sunscreen. Weekend crowds are a different experience from weekday ones: if you can, go on a weekday. If you want a family evening that is not a queue, a private evening at a desert camp with camel rides and a long table works for every age.
Heat, sun and water
In the cool months the sun is still strong at midday. Apply sunscreen before you leave, reapply through the day, carry a hat and refillable bottles and plan shade breaks. Take a light layer for evening outdoor events and for the air-conditioned malls and indoor parks, which can be cold.
For the youngest children, keep to one big outing a day and a late afternoon rest. Water is safe to drink from sealed bottles; take extra on desert and mountain trips, where there are fewer shops.
Strollers, changing and eating
Dubai's Metro and tram allow strollers, and most big attractions provide pushchair parking and baby-changing rooms. Restaurants are used to children and many open early. Global Village and the larger parks have food courts with plenty of choice for fussy eaters. Check each attraction's own page for pushchair and height rules before you go.
Indoor options and teenagers
When it is too hot, wet or windy for the outdoor parks, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld on Yas Island are air-conditioned, and many malls have indoor play areas and aquariums. For teenagers, the Jebel Jais ziplines, Ferrari World's faster rides, kayaking in the mangroves and a sunset sandboarding session are the things most likely to be remembered. Check age, height and weight limits before you promise anything.
For long days, plan a rest in the middle: a pool afternoon at the hotel or a shaded lunch will save the evening. The UAE is a safe and welcoming country for children, but the sun and the sea are the real risks, so lifeguards, shade and water matter more than any itinerary.
